How does Square-Immuneâ„¢ work?Â
Square-Immune™ works by training your immune system to respond more effectively to the herpes simplex virus (HSV-1), the virus that causes cold sores. When you apply it topically to your upper arm, it triggers a mild immune reaction in the skin—this acts like a reset for your immune system, helping it shift from an antibody-heavy response to a stronger, T-cell-driven response. T cells are essential to immune defense.
In lab tests, immune cells taken from patients eight weeks after a single dose of Square-Immune™ showed an 11-fold increase in interferon-gamma—your body’s most powerful antiviral protein—when exposed to the herpes virus. That’s more than a 1,000% boost in natural virus-fighting power.
Interestingly, Square-Immune™ showed the same immune-enhancing effect against completely unrelated antigens, like yeast in fungal infections. That means it doesn’t just target herpes—it helps your immune system function better overall. For ongoing protection, we recommend reapplying it once every three months.
Do you ship outside the U.S.?
Yes, we do! If you're ordering from outside the U.S., we recommend setting up an account with Ship7. They’ll give you a U.S. shipping address to use at checkout, and then forward your package to your international location. Just keep in mind—you’ll be responsible for any import paperwork, customs duties, or taxes required by your country.
Alternatively, if you have someone you know in the U.S., you can ship your order to them and have them forward it to you.
To save on shipping costs, we highly recommend choosing the 1-year supply if you’re ordering internationally. It gives you more doses up front and helps you avoid paying for shipping multiple times.Â
How do I use Square-Immuneâ„¢?
Apply Square-Immuneâ„¢ topically, on your skin, to a penny-sized (2 cm diameter) spot on the inner side of your upper arm (the side facing your chest). We do not advise applying Square-Immuneâ„¢ on your cold sore, mouth, or face as immune reaction may cause temporary rash.Â
Square-Immuneâ„¢ comes with a cotton swab. Dip the swab in the Square-Immuneâ„¢ solution and use it to apply it to your arm. Avoid touching other parts of your body with the solution, as it can cause a rash or irritation.Â
Allow a minute or two for the solution to absorb into your skin before you put clothes on. You can cover the spot with a Band-Aid if you like. Leave it in place for 3 hours or more before you wash the spot. We recommend washing the spot with water or soap and water before you go to bed, to avoid any solution getting on your sheets or elsewhere on your body.Â
How often should I apply Square-Immuneâ„¢?
One dose improves immune response for three months so we recommend applying it once every three months.Â
Some customers find that applying additional doses between their regular three-month applications works even better. If you want to apply additional doses, we recommend the 1-year supply, which is a larger amount of Square-Immuneâ„¢ that allows you to apply doses when you want.Â
How long does it take for Square-Immuneâ„¢ to work?
Square-Immuneâ„¢ begins to create changes in your immune system within two weeks. In clinical trials, most people saw a reduction in cold sore outbreaks within three to six weeks of their first dose. That said, every immune system is different. Some users report feeling a difference—like fewer or milder symptoms—within just a few days of applying their first dose.Â
Can I combine Square-Immuneâ„¢ with other cold sore treatments?Â
Yes, you can use Square-Immune™ alongside other cold sore treatments. While those medications focus on managing active outbreaks, Square-Immune™ is designed to help prevent future ones by supporting your immune system. You can apply it during or between outbreaks, but keep in mind—it won’t reduce the severity of an outbreak that you are already having. If you’re unsure about combining treatments, it’s always a good idea to check with a medical professional.
Does Square-Immuneâ„¢ work for genital herpes?
Yes, Square-Immune™ is designed to support your immune system in response to any herpes virus, including the one that causes genital herpes. To use it, apply a small amount (about the size of a penny, or 2 cm in diameter) to the skin on the inner side of your upper arm—the part facing your chest or to your inner thigh. You may also apply to a genital herpes lesion, and many users have applied it to a genital lesion with good results.
We don’t recommend applying Square-Immune™ directly to a cold sore or lesion on your face because of the risk of a red rash spot on your face that might last for several weeks.
What is SADBEâ„¢?Â
The key ingredient of Square-Immuneâ„¢ is SADBEâ„¢ (Squaric Acid Dibutyl Ester), a topical compound that helps train your immune system to fight outbreaks before they start.Â
SADBEâ„¢ is designed to help your immune system respond more effectively to recurring viral infections—like the herpes simplex virus that causes cold sores or genital herpes. Instead of targeting the virus directly, SADBEâ„¢ works by gently stimulating your skin’s immune response. This helps train your immune system to recognize and respond more effectively to viral outbreaks, reducing their frequency over time.Â
When applied topically, SADBEâ„¢ creates a mild, controlled reaction on the skin—this alerts and activates immune cells in the area. This is the same kind of reaction your body has to poison ivy—your skin treats the area as if it’s encountered a foreign substance and sends T cells to investigate (which causes a mild rash). In clinical trials, SADBEâ„¢ has been shown to shift the body’s immune response from an antibody-heavy (Type 2) reaction to a more effective T-cell-driven (Type 1) response.Â
What are the side effects of Square-Immuneâ„¢?
In our clinical trials, about one-third of users experienced a mild rash at the application site on the arm. That’s actually a good sign—it means your immune system is responding, which is how the product works. That said, it still works for people who don’t get a rash, too. The itch or discomfort is usually mild and clears up within a week, though redness can linger for up to two months. In rare cases, some skin discoloration may be long-lasting or permanent.Â
A very small number of people—about 1%—have experienced allergic reactions, such as swelling in the face or other parts of the body where the product wasn’t applied. In the two reported cases, those symptoms resolved within two weeks. If you experience symptoms beyond a mild rash, discontinue use and speak with a medical professional. Â
