HOW IT WORKS
Square-Immune® is topically applied to a hidden spot under your arm and it causes an immune response in your skin—the same immune response as poison ivy.
Poison ivy and Square-Immune® both basically trick your body into thinking that your skin is a foreign object and mounting an immune response against your own skin.
Square-Immune® resets your whole immune system. We evolved to encounter things like poison ivy on a regular basis, so our bodies are adapted to that. Now we live these sterile indoor lives and shelter our immune systems from every challenge. The result is weak and confused immune systems that don't know how to fight a real virus and instead attack our own bodies orharmless substances and cause allergies and autoimmune diseases.
The active ingredient in Square-Immune® is squaric acid dibutyl ester (SADBE™).
We have found in clinical trials that Square-Immune® shifts the immune response against the herpes virus that causes cold sores and genital herpes (herpes simplex virus or HSV) from a Type-2 immune response based on antibodies to a Type-1 immune response based on T cells. T cells are the cells depleted in AIDS, so that tells you how important they are. They are much more effective than antibodies.
The result is 60% fewer cold sore outbreaks (and the fewer outbreaks that happen are less severe).
But the mechanism of action is not specific for cold sores or the herpes virus. Square-Immune® just improves immune function.
"At the time I invented this, I was having almost constant cold sores, but now I have not had even one in over five years. I also, at least once a year, had a pretty bad cold, and now I have had one mild cold in five years. Other people report less severe allergies and reduced symptoms of long COVID and fibromyalgia."
- Hugh McTavish, PhD Biochemist & Inventor of Square-Immune®.
Clinical Trial Results:
● Square-Immune® tripled time to the next cold sore outbreak vs. placebo.
● Square-Immune® cut the number of outbreaks by 2.6x vs. placebo.
● Square-Immune® shifted the immune response to herpes virus from an antibody response to a stronger, T-cell response.
● Square-Immune® increased production of anti-viral protein Interferon-Gamma (produced by T-cells) by 1,100% indicating strong immune response!

FAQs
How does Square-Immune® work?
Square-Immune® is basically a controlled dose of poison ivy. Poison ivy and Square-Immune® both cause a Type IV immune response in your skin. It turns out that resets and strengthens your immune system. We evolved to encounter things like poison ivy in nature, so it is not surprise that might be beneficial to us and our immune systems to deal with that. It is weight training for your immune system!
Square-Immune® shifts your immune response from an antibody or Type 2 immune response against viruses and other pathogens to a T-cell or Type 1 immune response. T-cells are the cells depleted in AIDS, so that tells you how important they are. A T-cell response works better than an antibody response.
Square-Immune® works by training your immune system to respond more effectively to pathogens like the herpes simplex virus (HSV-1), the virus that causes cold sores. When you apply it topically to your upper arm, it triggers a mild immune reaction in the skin—this acts like a reset for your immune system, helping it shift from an antibody-heavy response to a stronger, T-cell-driven response.
In lab tests, immune cells taken from patients eight weeks after a single dose of Square-Immune® showed an 11-fold increase in interferon-gamma—your body’s most powerful antiviral protein—when exposed to the herpes virus. That’s more than a 1,000% boost in natural virus-fighting power.
Interestingly, Square-Immune® showed the same immune-enhancing effect against completely unrelated antigens, like yeast in fungal infections. That means it doesn’t just target herpes—it helps your immune system function better overall. For ongoing protection, we recommend reapplying it once every three months.
Do you ship outside the U.S.?
Yes, we do! Just give us your address worldwide!
To save on shipping costs, we highly recommend choosing the 1-year supply if you’re ordering internationally. It gives you more doses up front and helps you avoid paying for shipping multiple times.
How do I use Square-Immune®?
Apply Square-Immune® topically, on your skin, to a penny-sized (2 cm diameter) spot on the inner side of your upper arm (the side facing your chest). We do not advise applying Square-Immune® on your cold sore, mouth, or face, since the immune reaction may cause a rash and red spot on your face.
How often should I apply Square-Immune®?
One dose improves immune response for three months, and then the effect tapers off. So we recommend applying it once every three months.
Some customers find that applying additional doses between their regular three-month applications works even better. If you want to apply additional doses, we recommend the 1-year supply, which is a larger amount of Square-Immune® that allows you to apply doses when you want.
How long does it take for Square-Immune™ to work?
Square-Immune™ begins to create changes in your immune system within two weeks. But in clinical trials, it took about 6 weeks for the full effect to kick in. That said, every immune system is different. Some users report feeling a difference—like fewer or milder symptoms—within just a few days of applying their first dose.
Can I combine Square-Immune® with other cold sore treatments?
Yes, you can use Square-Immune® alongside other cold sore treatments. It acts by a different mechanisms than anything else. While those medications focus on managing active outbreaks, Square-Immune® is designed to help prevent future ones by supporting your immune system. You can apply it during or between outbreaks. (But keep in mind that it won’t reduce the severity of an outbreak that you are already having.) If you’re unsure about combining treatments, it’s always a good idea to check with a medical professional.
Does Square-Immune® work for genital herpes?
Yes. Square-Immune® is designed to support your immune system in response to any herpes virus, including the one that causes genital herpes. To use it, apply a small amount (about the size of a penny, or 2 cm in diameter) to the skin on the inner side of your upper arm—the part facing your chest or to your inner thigh. You may also apply to a genital herpes lesion, and many users have applied it to a genital lesion with good results.
We don’t recommend applying Square-Immune® directly to a cold sore or lesion on your face because of the risk of a red rash spot on your face that might last for several weeks.
What is SADBE™?
The key ingredient of Square-Immune® is SADBE™ (Squaric Acid Dibutyl Ester), which is known as a "topical immunosensitizer." That means it acts like poison ivy to cause a Type IV immune response in your skin. It reacts with proteins in your skin to trick your body into thinking that spot of your skin is a foreign object and mounting an immune response against your own skin. Like poison ivy, that can cause a rash in your skin.
But that immune response in the skin resets and strengthens your immune system!
The Evidence?
The evidence for Square-Immune® for immune conditions:
Warts. Warts of all sorts—common warts, plantar warts, and genital warts—are caused by human papilloma virus (HPV). SADBE™, the active ingredient of Square-Immune, and other topical immunosensitizers, have been used by dermatologists for 40 years to treat warts.
Cold sores and herpes. Cold sores (aka oral herpes) and genital herpes are caused by herpes simplex virus types 1 and 2 (HSV-1 and HSV-2). The Square-Immune® formulation has been tested in placebo- controlled clinical trials at Harvard and Stanford Universities and three other clinical sites, in persons with 4 or more cold sore outbreaks per year and it reduced cold sore outbreaks by 60% compared to placebo.
HIV and AIDS. In several case study reports, SADBE™ and other topical immunosensitizers were shown to increase immune function and T-cell counts in persons with AIDS or HIV infection.
Fibromyalgia, Long-COVID, and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS). These are all characterized by symptoms of fatigue, brain fog, and general pain. For many years doctors were not sure what caused fibromyalgia and many thought it was psychosomatic. It is now clear that many cases are caused by viral infections, particularly Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection. Epstein-Barr virus causes mononucleosis and almost everyone is infected with it at some point. EBV infection is permanent. The virus infects B cells and lives in those cells your whole life. Ordinarily your immune system controls it and keeps it dormant. This is exactly like Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV) that causes cold sores and genital herpes. HSV is also a life-long infection that is never cleared. And EBV and HSV are both types of herpesvirus. Some cases of fibromyalgia and CFS are caused by EBV infection. Others are undoubtedly caused by HSV infection. Long-COVID has essentially the same symptoms and is caused by COVID infection (or I suspect sometimes caused by the COVID vaccines).
At least some and possibly most cases of fibromyalgia and CFS are caused by viral infections that continue to activate or otherwise mess up and confuse your immune system. Since Square-Immune® works to improve immune control of herpes virus infections, it stands to reason it will do the same for EBV and COVID infections and other viral infections. Thus, it should help with fibromyalgia, long-COVID, and CFS. Some customers have reported that it has helped with their long-COVID and fibromyalgia.
Autoimmune diseases. SADBE™ and other topical immunosensitizers have been used successfully to treat alopecia areata, an autoimmune form of hair loss where the immune system attacks hair follicle roots, causing the hair to fall out. However, it needed to be applied to the entire effected area of the scalp.
From that, we believe that Square-Immune® is likely to be helpful with any autoimmune disease, such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, and lupus erythematosus.
Allergies. Allergies are similar to autoimmune diseases in that they involve an inappropriate immune response. In autoimmune disease, your immune system attacks certain tissues in your own body. In allergies, the immune system reacts to pollen or certain foods or other substances that are not actually harmful, and that reaction harms your body.
One Square-Immune® customer who had such severe hay fever allergies that she was hospitalized for it reported that after her first dose of Square-Immune® she had her best allergy season in years.
Colds and Flu. Unlike herpes simplex and Epstein-Barr virus infections, which are permanent, cold and flu virus infections are temporary and are cleared from your body. My own experience is that, while I still get colds sometimes, they are milder and less frequent than before I started using Square-Immune®.
What are the side effects of Square-Immune®?
In our clinical trials, about one-third of users experienced a mild rash at the application site on the arm. That’s actually a good sign—it means your immune system is responding, which is how the product works. That said, it still works for people who don’t get a rash, too. The itch or discomfort is usually mild and clears up within a week, though redness can linger for up to two months. In rare cases, some skin discoloration may be long-lasting or permanent.
To treat a mild or moderate rash at the application site, apply moisturizers and topical anti-itch cream like Benadryl. You may also apply non-prescription hydrocortisone cream.
A very small number of people—about 1%—have experienced allergic reactions, such as swelling in the face or other parts of the body where the product wasn’t applied. In the two reported cases, those symptoms resolved within two weeks. If you experience symptoms beyond a mild rash, discontinue use and speak with a medical professional.

How should I store Square-Immune®?
Be sure to reseal the vial between doses. If you don't, water vapor from the air gets into the solution and breaks down the SADBE™. If kept sealed, Square-Immune® is stable for a year at room temperature. It is more stable at freezer temperatures, so for the year supply we would recommend storing it in the freezer. If water gets in, it is actually less stable at refrigerator temperatures than at room temperature, so we do not recommend refrigerator storage.
What are these brown balls I see at the bottom of the vial of the 1-year supply?
Don't worry, those are included to absorb water from solution to protect the SADBE™ from breaking down. It is not a precipitate.
